The Myanmar Accountability Project is working discretely with civil society within Myanmar to build criminal cases against individual members of the Myanmar security forces.
We are gathering evidence in both the interior of the country and the ethnic nationality areas, as well as among Rohingya refugee communities in Bangladesh.
Unlike some human rights organisations we are not attempting to produce reports which document large numbers of abuses nationwide.
We are working on a small number of criminal cases against specific individuals.
When the time is appropriate, we bring these cases through national courts.
One of our current cases centres on the London residence of the Myanmar Ambassador.
We are also working with a partner organisation to gather evidence against the Myanmar army for abuses committed in Rakhine state in 2017.
